Wade in The Water is an African-American spiritual first published in 1901 by the Fisk Jubilee Singers. The song is associated with the underground railroad - and I encourage you to read more. The song has been performed by many including The Staples Singers, Bob Dylan, Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass, Billy Preston, and others.
